Life with Loopy - I (Don't) Believe I Can Fly

KaBlam! S04E04 The Best of Both Worlds

Premiered November 20, 1999

Quickly

Loopy helps Mike, the flightless duck, learn to fly.

Thoughts and Details

Mike's species was changed from a Canadian Wingless Duck to a Canadian Flightless Duck.

This episode of KaBlam! features the Shizzagee in crude CG. I dislike it. The animation is limited by the limitations of the era but also likely the budget and the schedule. This premiered 4 years after Toy Story and I just think the people behind it bit off way more than they could chew. I personally prefer the traditional methods but that doesn't mean I eschew all digital and cg animation, I just like what I like. When a traditionally animated work is limited, it can still be artistic. Very poorly done CG doesn't have that. I'm okay the Shizzagee is extinct.

Way Too Much Detail

Mike, the Flightless/Wingless duck, crashes into the Cooper's backyard. He's learning to fly so he can return with the rest of the ducks to Canada. They try to make a sling shot from a clothesline and it fails. They try to make a jetpack out of a leaf blower and he crashes. They try inflating him with a bicycle pump but he deflates. Loopy builds him a plane. When Mike questions the safety of the hastily constructed plane, she storms off (or pretends to). She gets caught on a banner attached to a plane and dragged into the air. Mike takes off to save her. The plane falls apart but Mike flies. He saves Loopy. Mike says his goodbyes then takes flight to return home.
